Merle Moult, born in 1924, resided in Kalulushi, Zambia. Unfortunately, she passed away on May 20, 2004, in Port Elizabeth. Given the limited information regarding Moult and her passing, it is unlikely that additional details will surface.

Athletic[edit]
From the 1960s to the 1970s, Moult established herself as a prominent figure in Zambian badminton and tennis circles, she was renowned for her athletic skills. She displayed her talents at prestigious events, including the Zambia International, competing in singles, doubles, as well as mixed doubles categories. Moult's remarkable achievements culminated in numerous awards, notably earning her the title of "national champion."

Beyond her sporting venture, Moult contributed to the intellectual landscape as an employee at the Chibuluma Research Library.
Legacy[edit]
Although Moult’s exceptional achievements in sports may not have received the recognition she deserved within her lifetime, her athleticism is a testament to future Zambian players and female athletes from other racial backgrounds. Moult’s achievements demonstrate perseverance and determination in a time when systemic barriers were at a high, serving as a source of inspiration. Additionally, ten years after Moult’s career an African badminton organization was formed with a woman elected as honorary secretary with the aim to promote badminton in the African content.[1]
