Count Flemming Valdemar Carl Axel of Rosenborg (9 March 1922 – 19 June 2002) was a former Danish prince.

Life[edit]

Prince Flemming was the youngest son and child of Prince Axel of Denmark (himself a son of Prince Valdemar of Denmark) and Princess Margaretha of Sweden.[1]

He renounced his rights to the throne and his princely title and style on 14 June 1949 and took the title of Count of Rosenborg. He served in the Royal Danish Navy as a Commander.[1] Count Flemming of Rosenborg had four children and ten grandchildren.

Marriage[edit]

He married Alice Ruth Nielsen (Copenhagen, 8 October 1924 – 25 July 2010), daughter of Kai Nielsen, of Springforbi, and his wife Edith Fischer, in Copenhagen on 24 May 1949 and had four children:[1]

  • Count Valdemar Georg Flemming Kai Axel of Rosenborg (b. Copenhagen 24 January 1950),[1] he married Jane Glarborg (b. Hörup, 17 September 1950) in Oxholm on 24 May 1975 and divorced in 1987, daughter of Major Steen Glarborg and wife Kirsten Vibeke Hansen; they had two children. He married Jutta Beck (b. Copenhagen, 9 November 1958) in Hösterköbon 10 December 1988, daughter of Villy Beck and wife Tove Lauritzen; they had two children.

Helleruplund, 3 July 1949) in Skovshoved on 19 October 1974, daughter of Niels Benedict Tillisch and wife Countess Dagmar Knuth, and had one daughter.[1] He divorced in 1978 and married secondly Susanne Kristensen (Copenhagen, 13 February 1951 - Thisted, 22 October 1999) in Taarbæk on 28 November 1981. They divorced in 1990. He married thirdly Lynne Denise Sharpe (b. Sheffield, 10 June 1953) at St. Peter's Church, Woolton, on 4 March 2000.

  • Count Carl Johan Valdemar Georg Flemming Kai Axel of Rosenborg (b. Copenhagen, 30 May 1952),[1] he married Dorritt Zander-Olsen (Copenhagen, 23 October 1956 - 17 October 2010) in Skovshoved on 3 September 1982 and divorced in 1986, daughter of Paul Zander-Olsen and wife Anne Berthe Törning; they had one daughter. He married Colette Vivian Cabral (b. New York, 9 May 1967) in Venice on 19 November 1994 and divorced in 2004; they had one daughter. He married Lisa Jeanne Stollar on 20 September 2013 and they divorced in 2016. He married Vanessa Wilson, née Barker in 2023.

Copenhagen, 10 October 1955) in Gentofte on 6 February 1988 and they had two sons, Peter Rindom (b. 13 September 1988) and Philip Rindom (b. 6 November 1990).
