Citybuzz, officially numbered 37, is a bus route running between Meadowview and Bristol Estate in Brighton and Hove, England, operated by Compass Travel.[1]
History[edit]
Brighton & Hove began operating route 37 on 1 January 1986, running from Bristol Estate to Hangleton. On 24 May 1992 the route was changed to run from Whitehawk to Hove Station, which was reduced to Brighton Station on 26 May 1996. The route's operation was transferred to Compass Travel on 19 April 2015. Brighton & Hove began operating route 37B on 25 September 2006, running from Bristol Estate to Meadowview before its operation was transferred to Compass Travel.[2]
In August 2015, four months after the route was taken over by Compass Travel, the council agreed to increase its level of subsidy such that it now supports most journeys throughout the day. Previously, it only subsidised services in the evening.[3]
In 2018, the evening service frequency was improved.[4]
From January 2023, the Sunday service was improved to match the service on Saturdays. The change was funded by the local council.[5] The 37B also received a Sunday service for the first time.[6]
