Deutsch: Die Vorderseite zeigt eine Büste Wolfs im Profil nach links in einem Sternenkranz. Der Medailleur Ferdiand Helfricht signierte unterhalb der Büste. Die Rückseite wird von einem lateinischen Text ausgefüllt. Einerseits stellt diese eine Ehrbekundung an Wolf dar, andererseits nennt sie den Anlass für die Prägung: Die dritte Versammlung deutscher Philologen und Schulmänner 1840 in Gotha. Oberhalb der Dedikation sind in einem Sternenkranz seine Lebensdaten in latinisierter Form angegeben.
English: The front side depicts a bust of Wolf surrounded by stars. The engraver Ferdiand Helfricht signed below the bust. The back side consists of a Latin dedication to the late Wolf. In the bottom of said text the occasion for strucking this medal is named as the convention of German philologists when it was held 1840 in Gotha. Above the dedication his date of birth and death are given enclosed by stars. |
