Description
English: Nicholas Said, aka Mohammed Ali Ben Said, Sergeant, US Army, 55th United States Colored Infantry Regiment. A Muslim from Lake Chad region, Said traveled the world, became a translator of Turkish, Russian, and French, and immigrated to the US to be a part of the African American struggle, even though he was never enslaved in the Americas.
