DescriptionLighthouse NS-01464 - Carter Island (Lockport) Lighthouse (28351009141).jpg
In 1982, after caretakers for the lighthouse and structures on the island could not be found, the present fiberglass tower was erected. The lighthouse and all the buildings except the fog signal building were then demolished. The modern circular tower stands 9.1 meters (62.7ft) high and is marked with two red horizontal stripes. Carter Island is one of five small islands within Lockport Harbour, and its flashing white light guides vessels into the inner harbour.
