Object history
Deutsch: Das „oppidum Tutenheim" hatte schon 1471 ein Siegel mit diesem Wappen geführt. Diese heraldische Tradition stammt wahrscheinlich aus der Zeit kurz nach 1353, als das Haus Österreich (Bindenschild) in den Besitz der Reichspfandschaft Dietenheim (Reichsadler) gelangte. In Anlehnung an eine im späten 16. Jahrhundert entstandene Wappenscheibe, die den figurengleichen aber seitenverkehrten und teilweise andersfarbigen Schild der Grafen von Kirchberg-Brandenburg (Lehensinhaber 1280) aufweist, wurde das Wappen der 1588 erstmals und 1953 erneut zur Stadt erhobenen früheren Gemeinde zeitweilig verändert. Das Innenministerium hat der Stadt am 31. August 1973 nach Eingliederung von Regglisweiler das Wappen in der ältesten Form und die Flagge verliehen.
