Summary

Description Photo of the practice firing of the starboard forward 5"/54 caliber Mark 42 guns aboard the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Ranger (CVA-61). A Douglas A3D-2 Skywarrior (BuNo 147662) from Heavy Attack Squadron VAH-6 Fleurs is visible in the foreground. VAH-6 was assigned to Carrier Air Group 9 (CVG-9) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger (CVA-61) for a deployment to the Western Pacific from 11 August 1961 to 8 March 1962. The A3D-2 147662 was lost during a flight from USS Ranger in November 1962.
