Tagalog: Nagsimula bilang Serbisyo ng Kuwarantena sa ilalim ng Public Health and Marine Hospital Service ng Estados Unidos sa pamumuno ni Dr. James Perry bilang unang Chief Quarantine Officer, 1902. Inilipat sa Pamahalaan ng Pilipinas sa ilalim ng Department of Health and Public Welfare bilang Kawanihan ng Kuwarentena sa pamumuno ni Dr. Rufino Abriol, unang Pilipinong direktor, 1947. Sumunod na International Sanitary Regulation ng World Health Organization, 1951. Naging tagapagsangguni tungkol sa kuwarantena matapos mailipat ang mga tungkulin nito sa mga panrehiyong sentro ng kuwarantena sa bansa, 1956. Ibinalik sa hanay ng mga kawanihan ng pamahalaan, 1961. Naging tanggapan ng Pambansang Kuwarantena, 1987. Pinangalanang Bureau of Quaratine and International Surveillance, 2000. Muling tinaguriang Kawanihan ng Kuwarantena, 2004.
